Our Story

Fishing For Futures was founded with the goal to use fishing to bring exposure to our communities Non-Profits. But more importantly, we wanted to introduce our local disadvantaged kids to the joy of fishing.

Our founder Rick Miller, himself a boat captain has a deep passion for kids and fishing, taking his kids fishing from an early age. A long-time resident of St Lucie and Martin County Rick found that many disadvantaged kids who lived within miles from the ocean had never been fishing let alone on a boat.

This realization coupled with Rick’s love for kids moved him to found this event in benefit of the Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucie County. Our tournament has successfully benefited our communities, kids, by introducing them to fishing while simultaneously raising money for the benefit of local Non-Profits. For our 4th annual, we have brought on Elev8Hope as a new Non-Profit to extend our reach to Martin County.

For our 4th Annual Tournament we have joined with Angler Armory a national king fish organization, they host an annual tournament named Wild West located in Fort Pierce. This year the Fishing For Futures Tournament will be joint with the Wild West Tournament to form a KDW in benefit of the Boys and Girls Club of St Lucie County, and Elev8hope of Martin County.

What We Do

  • Charter Boats

Fishing For Futures takes a group of 100 kids and treats them to a day of offshore fishing with an experienced charter captain and crew. Fishing rods are donated and given to each kid so he can take what they learn home.

  • KDW Fishing Tournament

In partnership with Angler Armory Fishing For Futures hosts a KDW fishing tournament with large cash prizes. Local and national anglers gather together to raise awareness of our great cause and win big!

  • Day of event

On the day of the event, families are welcome to Causeway Cove to enjoy many activities such as the live Weigh-In, Silent Auction, and Kids Sea Wall Tournament hosted by Angler Armory.
